WANTED:  Chancel Choir Accompanist
The Chancel Choir of the Church is looking for an accompanist to rehearse on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. and to play for choir presentations on the first and third Sundays of the month. Piece by Piece
The Capital Campaign Team wants to challenge the church family members to PRAY at 3:12 p.m./a.m. each day for the Church and the Campaign. The time is from 2 Corinthians 3:12, Therefore, since we have such a hope, we are very bold.  Please pray for hope, courage, boldness and faith! Holiday Grief Share
On Tuesday, November 21st at 6:00 p.m. in Room 006, Holiday Grief Share will be presented. This is an opportunity for those who are grieving to come together and to listen, to share and to find comfort as you prepare for this holiday season.  RSVP to the Church Office by Monday. November 20th to reserve your spot.
UMW Annual Christmas Brunch
Please come join us at FUMC Fellowship Hall Saturday, December 2nd from 9:30 -11:00 a.m. for a morning of food, fellowship and celebration of the season. Music provided by the CHS New World Singers and Holiday Activity with Tammy Hempstead of Accent Floral. Tickets are $3 for an adult, $5 for a family, and kids are free. Tickets will be available at church services or in the church office. We will also have a free will offering for Epworth’s new “Little Jewels” daycare.
Connections is sponsoring a trip to Omaha on Friday, December 8th. They will be leaving the church parking lot at 8:30 a.m. and return by 5:00 p.m. The trip will include the Poinsettia Tree at Lauritzen Gardens, Christmas at Union Station, lunch at Spaghetti works in the Old Market with a stop at Cheesecake Factory on the way home. Janet Hibbs Jones receives the NARSP Big Apple Award
Janet Hibbs Jones received the NARSP (Nebraska Association of Retired School Personnel) Big Apple Award at the State Convention of the Association on October 11th  in Grand Island.

Confirmation 2017
Confirmation was held at the 10:30 Service October 8th. These 17 youth were confirmed in the faith. Congratulations and blessings to our 9th graders: Hunter Gassmann and Madison Henderson, and to our 8th graders: Tadan Bell; Josalyn Valenzuela Bice; Austin Boswell; Hunter Colegrove; Owen Davis; Abigail Degn; Makiaya DeLaCruz; Trevor Fricke; Addison Heule; Hailey Hoffman; Rebecca Hoffman; Ericka Keep; Kyson Krepel; Brock Kuhlman and Tate Smith.

Blessing Box at Outreach Center
Thanks to Will Whited and his Eagle Scout project, the Outreach Center is taking another step to help stop hunger in the Columbus community.

Come as you are and join us every Sunday for a casual evening together at the Outreach Center, 3602 16th Street. It all begins at 6:00 with music and words to Ignite the Spirit in you followed by refreshments and fellowship.
Pastor Seong's November Sermon Series centers on the Parables of Jesus. In listening to these stories about Jesus’ kingdom, may God open the ways to discover how we can be a part of the great story of God, and how we can open our hearts and minds to make Him the King of our lives.

Care Team needs a few more Caring People to serve in a variety of ways: provide transportation to & from worship on the weekends and/or to medical appointments; make hospital visits and/or visits to homebound members; help to coordinate health & wellness activities. Care 101, 202 & 303 trainings available as scheduled. Talk to Rev. Cindi, Dee Kinkaid and/or Martha Davidson for more info.
Columbus Women’s Club will host their 38th annual Festival of Trees in the lower level of the Library on   Sunday, November 19th from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Advance tickets are selling for $5.  They are available from Club members, Art Editions, Tooley Drug and the Columbus Arty Gallery. Tickets at the door are $6. All tickets include cookies and a beverage.
Great Plains Active Shooter Awareness - Hastings Grace UMC will be offering the Great Plains Annual Conference Active Shooter Awareness class on Friday, December 1st at 1:00 p.m. Rev. Hollie Tapley, Disaster Response Coordinator, will be leading the class at the church 1832 W. 9th St. Columbus folks: if you are interested in attending, please contact the Church Office; we will try to get church members to carpool together.
15 Year Anniversary
Homes Wanted & Needed – Great foster parents are willing to work in partnership, are committed to provided care and support, are willing to complete training and ongoing education, are willing to open their hearts and homes. If you have ever thought about foster care, wanted to know more about it, or just did not know where to start, let us take some time to share about this rewarding and needed service. Call and speak to a foster parent, recruiter, and trainer to find out about the role YOU can play and the difference YOU can make one child at a time. Thanksgiving Food Baskets - Living Water Rescue Mission is preparing to give out Thanksgiving baskets to the poor. We will need all the fixings to put in the baskets. As you shop, would you please consider a Thanksgiving Basket fixings and a card for another family? The shopping list includes a turkey, aluminum roasting pan, 5 lbs of potatoes, 2 cans of sweet potatoes, 2 cans of corn or beans, 1 box of dressing, 1 can of turkey gravy, 1 can of cranberry sauce, 1 can of pumpkin pie filling and a pie crust. The cost of all this is around $40.00. If you would prefer to give a cash donation, please call 402-5631096. Thank you to ADM Cares for their help.
Prairie Rivers District Mission Trip Opportunity – PLEASE SIGN-UP ASAP!!! The Prairie Rivers District is forming a district wide missions team to go to Texas this coming January to help with the recovery work from Hurricane Harvey. Join Pastors Russ Anderson and Martin Leeper January 28 – February 3. The exact location is yet to be determined. This mission opportunity is for laity and clergy alike. Call Pastor Russ at 308-382-1952, or Pastor Martin at 402-741-2362 for more information. The Prairie Rivers District will help with some of the expenses keeping the cost per person low. The expected cost per person is $200 (housing, food budget, fuel cost sharing, ect.). Volunteer in Mission (VIM) team training events will be held throughout the district for those wishing to join the mission team. Look for information on when and where they will be held.   
Center For Survivors - The center is now in its 27 year of serving our families and individuals in six counties. We have served over 1,000 individuals in 2016. One in four women will experience domestic violence in their lifetime, and one in seven men will experience severe physical violence by their partner. Churches have been vital in providing our center resources for families and individuals impacted by domestic violence and sexual assault.  We have many families and individuals on our Christmas wish lists that are in need of new winter clothing. If you would like to adopt a family, for our Christmas wish list program, please call 402-564-2155 or email Our need list is in the office at First United Methodist Church. Some of the items include garbage bags, laundry detergent, deodorant, toothbrushes, toothpaste, paper towels, shampoo, conditioner, cereal, soups, diapers, Ziploc bags, and gift cards.  
Platte County Food Pantry 3020 18th Street, Suite 13, Columbus - November item request is: Stuffing & Potato Boxes. The collection barrels are located in the west entrance next to the elevator and by the alley entrance at FUMC.
