Ministry Development

The Ministry Development Team was formed by the Church Council in 2010 to further the vision of everyone in our church growing and serving God. The Team’s two primary goals are to assist the startup of new ministries and to provide and encourage expanded spiritual formation and leadership development and training.

 

Subsequently, the Team has interfaced with and supported/encouraged the following new ministries in pursuit of the first goal, including contact person(s):

·         MEDICAL EQUIPMENT MINISTRY (Martha Davidson)

·         SUMMER YOUTH MUSICAL (Stephanie Bourek and Lisa Weber-Kohler)

·         VENTURE CREW FOR HIGH SCHOOL YOUTH ADVENTURE AND SERVICE (a Boy Scouts of America unit for boys and girls) (Tom and Dacia Kent)

·         MOVIE NIGHT (_____)

·         HABITAT FOR HUMANITY - COLUMBUS CHAPTER (Jamie Snyder)

·         COMMUNITY GARDEN (_____)

·         TAI CHI CLASSES (Holly Warth)

·         YOGA CLASS

·         THANKSGIVING DINNER FOR THE COMMUNITY (Anne Kallesen)

·         YOUTH CHOIR (Stephanie Bourek and Lisa Weber-Kohler)

·         "MY NEXT STEP: CONNECT AND SERVE" CLASSES (for new and current members, constituents, visitors to learn about and engage with opportunities) (Martha Davidson)

·         CONNECTIONS monthly lunch fellowship for women (Marilyn Zehring)

·         SPEED Men's group formation (Serving People Enthusiastically Every Day) (Pastor Dusty Sprague and Andy Alt)

·         GROW Men's group formation (Rich Rohde and Doug Kallesen)

·         ADDITIONAL PRAISE WORSHIP SERVICE ON APRIL 10 (Pastor Bill Ritter)

·         MINISTRY FAIR OF CHURCH GROUPS AND ACTIVITIES (Martha Davidson)

 

Regarding the second goal of spiritual formation and leadership development, the Team:

·         Introduced the Six Marks of Discipleship concept (PRAY daily, WORSHIP weekly, READ the Bible, SERVE at and beyond Columbus FUMC, be in RELATIONSHIP to encourage spiritual growth in others, and GIVE of my time, talents, and resources) to the congregation through sermons, write-ups, and posters.

 

·         Is launching a focus on developing a praying congregation as a key first step to becoming a more active discipleship congregation.

 

If you feel God calling you to a new ministry, either one of the above or something different, the Ministry Development Team would like to visit with and assist you. Similarly, if you would like to know about or promote spiritual formation and leadership training opportunities.
