CARING MINISTRIES
 
 
A wide range of caring ministries are organized by Pastors Cindi and Joe, including pastoral care, healing and prayer service, hospital visits, helping hands, meals of care, grief care, respite care, phone buddy, birthday calls, transportation for church and medical appointments, home-bound visitation, new baby welcome, home comumunion, delivery of worship service CDs, and special needs concerning crisis, depression, substance abuse, Alzheimers, parenting, XYZ (Xtra Years of Zest), Tai Chi, Yoga, etc. Parish Nurses group is led by Martha Davidson.
 
The Care Team of First UMC includes the following: 
 
Prayer Team (weekly prayer group, prayer chain, healing service) 
 
Visitation Team (hospital & homebound visits) 
 
Grief Response Team (grief care, cards, etc.)
 
Transportation Team (to church-related activities and/or to medical appointments) 
 
Health & Wellness Team (blood pressure checks, newsletter articles, health fair) 
 
Specialized Care Teams  Prayer Shawl Ministry, SPEED (automotive), Quilters, XYZ Group, Hearts for Mission and Helping Hands
 
 
 
Local churches play a major role in shaping each community's culture, values, and sense of place. Healthy Congregations engages Great Plains United Methodist churches in projects to improve spiritual, physical, social, and emotional health in their congregations and communities. The Healthy Congregations program provides training, resources, and financial support to Great Plains United Methodist churches committed to health ministry.

Meet Jill Colegrove of Columbus First UMC, Licensed Mental Health Practitioner. Jill has prepared a three part series for FUMC-TV concerning mental health where she explains different problem areas, what they are and how to help yourself and others. Quilters
 
is a ministry of making quilts for comforting and welcoming people in Jesus' name. We meet 9:00 AM on Tuesdays at the Outreach Center -- more quilters welcome!

     Transportation available for Sunday 10:30 service. Call the church by Friday to schedule
